This small bubble vase is one of Motzfeldt’s most iconic creations. Hand-blown in deep blue-green glass and richly filled with suspended bubbles, it comes alive in the light, glowing with a dynamic, almost cosmic effect. The glossy, perfectly spherical body contrasts beautifully with the matte, slightly flared neck — a hallmark of her organic yet refined style.

About the designer
Benny Anette Motzfeldt (1909–1995) was one of Norway’s most influential glass artists and a leading figure in Scandinavian design. Originally trained as a painter, she turned to glass in the 1950s, working with Christiania Glasmagasin, Randsfjord Glassworks, and later as artistic director at Plus in Fredrikstad.
Motzfeldt developed a distinctive language of form and surface: organic silhouettes, rich textures, and the innovative use of trapped air bubbles and metallic oxides in glass. Her bubble vases — both spherical and elongated — became her signature works, admired for their combination of spontaneity and precision.
Today her pieces are represented in major museums and remain highly sought after by collectors of Scandinavian mid-century design. The small spherical bubble vase offered here is among her most iconic and desirable creations, encapsulating the poetic clarity of her artistic vision.
