This decorative plate presents Vinternatt i Rondane (Winter Night in the Mountains), one of Norway’s most iconic artworks. Rendered in calming blue tones, it captures the majestic, snow-covered Rondane mountains beneath a serene night sky. The motif is deeply rooted in Norwegian identity: in 1995, it was voted “Norway’s national painting.”

 

Produced in 2003 as a collaboration between ArtSupply and Porsgrund Porcelain, the plate was issued in a strictly limited run of 250 examples. This piece, No. 31, remains in pristine condition, a true collectible for both art and porcelain enthusiasts.

 

About the painting
Harald Sohlberg (1869–1935) is celebrated as one of Norway’s foremost painters, known for his luminous, atmospheric depictions of Norwegian landscapes. Vinternatt i Rondane (1914) is his most famous work and stands as a national treasure.

 

The original painting can be seen today at the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, in Room 061 of the Collection Exhibition: Moods and Emotions.
