Matching accessories from Porsgrund’s early Bondemønster — vintage pieces with history and charm.

Bondemønster accessories — Porsgrund sanitary porcelain, 1948–52

Maker: Porsgrund Porselænsfabrikk, Norway
Pattern: Bondemønster (Farmer’s Rose), introduced 1932
Material: Sanitary porcelain (SP), green rim décor
Date: c. 1948–52 (all stamped SP)
Condition: Vintage condition — all pieces show normal wear and surface marks from use. Most are stamped II (second quality), except the coffee pot with lid which is first quality. No chips or cracks.

Available pieces (sold individually):

  • Large jug — 17 cm (6.7 in) tall to top of handle, 17 cm (6.7 in) diameter at widest point. Some dark scuff marks on handle (see photos).

  • Small jug — 13.5 cm (5.3 in) tall to top of handle, 14 cm (5.5 in) diameter at widest point. Second quality.

  • Coffee pot with lid — 20 cm (7.9 in) tall to top of lid knob, 12.5 cm (4.9 in) body width, 19 cm (7.5 in) across from handle to spout. Marked with black SP stamp, first quality. In unusually fine condition: glossy and fresh, with only normal wear on the green rim.

  • Slim pitcher without lid - approximately 20 cm high (about 7.9 in), second quality.

  • Square serving plate — 21 cm (8.3 in) diameter. Second quality.

  • Square Cheese Plate with text "Skjær pent av osten!" and "Hold deg på høydene!".  21 cm (8.3 in) diameter. Second quality. (These humorous yet mildly moralistic inscriptions — “Slice the cheese neatly!” and “Stay on the high side!” — were common on Norwegian cheese boards in the early 1900s. They reminded guests, with a wink, to cut the cheese properly and not dig into the middle, keeping the block neat for everyone.)

  • Small creamer, approximately 10 cm high (about 3.9 in).

  • Small sugar bowl, approximately 10 cm high (about 3.9 in).

  • Egg cups — 4 cm (1.6 in) tall, 5.5 cm (2.2 in) diameter at rim. Second quality, visibly used.

Description
These accessories belong to the same sanitary porcelain Bondemønster edition with green rim as the early place settings I offer separately. Produced between 1948 and 1952, they were part of Porsgrund’s post-war output and carry the SP mark of that era. Unlike the distinctive place settings, which have a rare structural design, these pieces are less unusual — but still represent the same period and carry the same sense of history.

Most are marked as second quality, with the expected small imperfections in porcelain and wear in décor from decades of use. The exception is the coffee pot with lid, stamped in black SP and first quality, which stands out for its remarkable condition — glossy, well-preserved, and almost flawless apart from wear on the green rim.

Like the corresponding sanitary porcelain service, these accessory pieces are noticeably thick and clunky in form — far more rustic than later versions, especially when compared to the thin and delicate tea and coffee sets I offer from the 1960s–70s.

Together, these jugs, serving plate, and egg cup make a fine complement to the early Bondemønster tableware, offering both function and a tangible connection to Norwegian porcelain heritage.
