These cups are just the right size for coffee, tea, or – even better – a generous serving of hot cocoa with whipped cream on a cold winter’s day. Though still relatively new at 10 years old, this exact model is no longer in production, making them a slightly unusual find tied to Norwegian design tradition.
The Marius pattern
Created in 1953 by Unn Søiland, the knitted design drew inspiration from Setesdal motifs. It became famous the same year in the film Troll i ord, worn by actor and war hero Marius Eriksen – from whom the pattern takes its name. Since then, Marius has become the most knitted sweater in Norway, a strong symbol of Norwegian identity, outdoor life, and craft traditions.
More than just cups, these are cozy little pieces of Norwegian culture. A warm souvenir, a thoughtful gift, or simply the perfect way to enjoy your morning coffee or hot chocolate in true Nordic style.
Perfect gift for the knitting enthusiast!
