This charming small vase reflects Benny Motzfeldt’s distinctive style at PLUS, where she developed bold and experimental glass techniques. Executed in green glass with a softly mottled and textured matte surface, the vase has a tactile, almost “rugged” quality that contrasts with the smooth, fluid shaping of its flared neck.

Compact and well-balanced, it is both decorative and versatile. The organic veining of green shades and natural irregularities make each example unique, like a landscape contained within glass.

Perfect as a stand-alone piece, it also pairs beautifully with other BM vases, making it a desirable collectible for enthusiasts of Scandinavian mid-century and modernist design.

About the designer
Benny Anette Motzfeldt (1909–1995) was one of Norway’s leading glass artists and a pioneering figure in Scandinavian modernism. Trained as a painter, she turned to glass in the 1950s and became artistic director at the PLUS workshop in Fredrikstad in 1967.

Her works are celebrated for their painterly qualities, often featuring bubbles, veils of color, and contrasting surface textures. The “PLUS BM NORWAY” signature is found on her most important studio pieces. Today her glass is represented in major museums and remains highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

This small textured vase is a fine example of her artistry: organic, experimental, and richly expressive.
