A rare antique spice jar set from Egersunds Fayancefabrik – well over a century old, authentically worn, and still in excellent condition for its age.

Material: Glazed porcelain with gilded details
Size: Large jars 18–19 cm high with lids (approx. 7–7.5 in); small spice jars proportionally smaller
Producer: Egersunds Fayancefabrik, Norway
Period: Late 19th to early 20th century
Condition: Considerable surface wear, especially on gilding; decorative rims remain bright, Gothic script crisp; no chips, cracks, or structural damage
Markings: Factory stamp from Egersund

The set consists of six lidded jars: two large ones labeled Gryn (Grain) and Sukker (Sugar), and four smaller spice jars labeled Kardemomme (Cardamom), Nellik (Cloves), Muskat (Nutmeg), and Pepper (Pepper). This set is sold complete: All six jars are included in the price.

The porcelain shows the small irregularities and pinholes typical of early production. The gilding on the sugar jar’s knob is nearly rubbed away, and most lids reveal wear from daily handling, yet the rims remain bright and the black Gothic lettering fully legible. Inside, the jars are clean and delicate, perfectly usable if desired.

Placed on a kitchen shelf, they carry more than practical value: these jars once held the same grains and spices for Norwegian families over a hundred years ago, and they continue to echo that history today.
